They did the split in the office.

They pulled the banded cash out of the five suitcases and left the luggage open, one for each man.

$750,000 went into Bruder’s suitcase, and the same amount went into Kershaw’s.

$350,000 went into the luggage for Rowe, Avery, and Gator.

There was plenty of room left for clothes and other items to hide the cash from a cursory search.

Bruder set the remaining $100,000 aside for James.

He didn’t bring up the expenses for the job. With him and Kershaw each getting $400,000 more than the others, it might come across as petty.

Nobody pulled any of the hundreds out of the stacks for walking-around money. Each man had his own way of laundering the cash, and it would be a shame to go through the job and the risk just to get busted for spending a C-note with a flagged serial number.

They closed the suitcases and left them in the office, which Bruder re-locked.

Then they took turns washing the job off with Bruder going last since he didn’t mind the lack of hot water.

He dressed in lightweight outdoor clothes and pulled out his money clip and handed some cash to Kershaw.

“You guys go get some breakfast, on me. You all did outstanding work today.”

Avery looked at the others, then Bruder. “You’re not coming?”

“I’ll stay with the money. And the scanner, just in case.”

Rowe gave him a crooked grin. “You don’t have a flight out of JFK with five pieces of luggage to check, right?”

“Not a chance,” Bruder said. “Bring something back for me though, I’m starving.”

They took Gator’s crew cab truck, the only vehicle that was strictly legal, and Bruder closed the overhead door as they pulled away.

Then he started to break the warehouse down.

One more night, and it would be empty.
